Our Waitawheta tramp proved to be a gentle, enjoyable weekend. The three of us were the remnant who
occupied the hut along with some vibrant families from the Waiuku Dirt Track, while some Army cadets
& their friends camped. It was delightful to have Ann V join us for the walk on Saturday. The weather
began & ended in sunshine with some hazy drizzle in between - certainly not enough rain to make the river
crossing hazardous. The afternoon saw some of the teenagers splitting & "chopping" wood on an appropriate
rock ensuring a roaring fire for the evening. Tina C shared a thought-provoking devotion based on Peter's
rooftop vision of the sheet of edible animals coming down from heaven in Acts 10:9-16 . Notably, the
road has now been sealed right to the gate & the landowners' glorious tulips were in full bloom. Whether
for a day or longer, this tramp is very pleasant.
