Training was held on the Walkers' back lawn area at 10 Bracken Ave. Option choices were offered to cater
for different experience levels.
Options included: Erecting our new Orson Tents and Great
Outdoors Flys, Lighting Colman and MSR Stoves, fire-lighting in the hut, Navigation using TopoGPS App
and completing a Leader Risk Management were key skills presented. Basics in knowing the correct
gear to take, understanding Tramp Grades and visual signs on maps, tramping safely were covered. We shared
ideas for tramping lunches and explained some of the complexities of food prep for overnight and extended
tramps .
We appreciated a fine afternoon while we connected and shared experiences and ideas.
The afternoon was closed with a prayer of thanks.
Further Training opportunities were shared to
encourage members to consider, which could be supported by the Club.
