SUMMER TRAMPS REUNION

Carey Baptist College    Sat 22 Feb

About 35 people showed up for the Summer Tramps Reunion at the Carey Baptist College. We sat down to a potluck dinner at 5:30pm, and remained in the dining room for the formal programme to begin at 7pm.

Murray gave an overview of the summer tramps to Dunedin, Naseby and Alexandra, there being 29 participants, 15 nights and over 23 activities. David R gave a presentation on the Silver Peaks three-day tramp. Murray then gave a presentation about the Oteake  Conservation Park pack-carry from Naseby. Barbara L spoke about the 2025-26 summer tramps Captivating Canterbury, which will focus on Tekapo, Pukaki and Mt Cook. This was followed by presentations about the day walks in Dunedin, Naseby and Alexandra.

About 8pm we had a Special General Meeting to adopt the new updated ABTC Constitution, and this got carried.  Tina gave a presentation on the Careys Creek and Black Gully tramp, and Cathie shared about the Otago Rail Trail walk. Murray gave a plug about the new ABTC poster, copies of which were available for us to display in churches and other places.  The meeting concluded with acknowledgements of thanks to Christine and David for their hard work in organising the Summer Tramps, and Jill and Cathie for catering tonight.
