END OF YEAR BBQ

Sylvia's               Sat 30 Nov

31 people showed up at the ABTC end of year BBQ at Sylvia's in Greenhithe, after the planned tramp to Hobsonville beforehand got cancelled due to the weather. We began with a shared pot-luck dinner, then we broke into groups of five for a tramping version of Pictionary led by Cathie. Then one person from each group entered a race to scoop tiny Christmas decorations into a container blindfolded.

We had a carol sing-song,  then Murray gave the reflection. He played a song Love Came Down At Christmas on his bluetooth speaker, which had been written in 1885. Murray said that he used AI to write a three verse Christmas carol with reference in each verse to tramping in New Zealand and seeing how God's love for the world began at creation and is seen again through Jesus birth at Christmas. Creation was an act of love, and we can be part of that as trampers and as people who get outdoors and heading off to the tussock and Otago tracks in the Christmas holidays. And we can remember at Christmas that Christ, who was part of that creation, came for us in love.
