A group of 12 met at Eaves Bush Parade in Orewa for a walk taking in the Alice Eaves Scenic Reserve and
on out to the coast. After our usual in-circle intros and prayer, we set off at 2:45pm along a boardwalk
through the Alice Eaves bush reserve, having to go through a kauri dieback cleaning station. This became
a good workout as we climbed a large number of steps up through the bush to come out at Hillcrest Rd.
Here we were joined by another member Tony before carrying on down the road to the Hibiscus Coast Highway
and on to Hatfields Beach. After a comfort stop we went on to the beach for a short walk before climbing
up many steps then along an alleyway to Ocean View Rd. From there we went on to the Hibiscus Coast Highway
Footpath and had our break at a viewing platform besides the highway.
Jill gave devotions reading
from The Word For Today. One of her favourite verses is Isaiah 40:31, those who wait on the Lord will
renew their strength. The word "bearish" makes her think about decay, like a rotting apple. She wonders
when passion leaves a marriage or when someone loses interest in their job. This can happen when we focus
more on our burdens than our purpose. Allow God's promises to grow in you, as He gives strength to the
tired and weak. Even young people may feel worn out, but if we wait on the Lord, we will find renewed
strength. God provides power and support in our lives.
We carried on down to cross the highway
via an underbridge over a stream, then went on to Puriri Ave and finished our walk at 4:55pm. Distance
5.4km.
