MONTANA HERITAGE TRAIL
Waitakere Ranges Sat 6 Jul
|

The tramp took us about 4 hours, on a fine day. We went in 2 groups about 10 mins apart for until lunchtime
when we joined up and continued together.
The tramp was the newly upgraded Montana Heritage Trail,
with plenty of steps, board walks, some gravel and we went in anticlockwise direction around the loop,
taking about 4 hours. Starting from Falls Rd carpark we went up Upper Kauri Track and Long Road Track,
and on to Fenceline Track which follows the western side of Waitakere Reservoir before dropping down
to finish at Falls Rd. There are plenty of kauri trees along the track.
For the devotions at our
lunch stop beside the Waitakere Reservoir Ali read this poem in Lectio Divina style - Read, Reflect,
Pray, Contemplate:

Lord, How can I hear the voice of my heart against the clamour of my busy mind?
It's like listening
for the kokako in the middle of a brass band. How can I feel the warmth of your love against the chill
of my many fears?
It's like looking for shelter on an alpine plateau when the wind is raging.
How can I stand still when routine keeps jostling me forward? It's like trying to hold balance
in the mid-flow of a river crossing
The answer is here in this moment where silence is bigger
than sound.
Where the roots of my soul hold fast to your presence and a flower opens to the sun.
