About 35 people were present for the Magic Carpet Evening at Remuera Baptist Church.
Phillip Donnell
gave a presentation and book launch for his new book Eco-Insites about creation care. He spoke of the
ministry he has established New Creation New Zealand, whose trustees include Barbara Langridge and Paul
and Ruth Ungemuth. Much of our environment has been damaged by human activity, and this organisation
exists to motivate and mobilise Christians to participate in creation care. God made it, we broke it,
let's fix it together. Copies of the book were available over a pot-luck supper break for $25, with the
option for Phillip to autograph it.
Phillip took us to Samoa, from a recent trip he did with
a group that included Peter York. Samoa has narrow winding roads with wandering pigs, dogs and people.
The nation has colourful buses, one large city Apia, and 400 beautiful churches. There are massive volcanoes
including one that destroyed 4 villages in 1906-11, and massive lava fields and caves. Spectacular waterfalls
and swimming holes dot the landscape, and there are heritage buildings to be seen.
