We started with a brief visit to Vaughan Homestead, historic cottage 1873 and then went along the Nature
Trail through old puriri and nikau forest. Then we followed the pathway to Long Bay Village and up the
hillside passing the new housing estates. Headed east along Vaughan Ridge to the new Piripiri Pt road
with views of the Hauraki Gulf and the Okura-Weiti River catchment.
Marjorie Owens led devotions
on moments of sudden surprises in nature on our tramps which are blessings. (There was a nearby sign
warning Beware of Bulls!)
We followed a pole route across the park paddocks and avoiding a large
herd of Hereford cattle. We climbed over the stile onto the clifftop path which took us back to Long
Bay carpark at 4.30pm.
