May and June led a group of 33 on a walk along the tracks of Westmere on a glorious sunny afternoon.
We met at the corner of Tui St and Premier Ave in Pasadena at 1:45pm and set out at 2:05pm going through
the grounds of Pasadena and stopped at the cricket pitch for our intros and karakia.

From there we carried on along the MOTAT tramline to Meola Rd and along past the Seddon Fields to
the new Weona-Westmere Coastal Walkway. This walkway was opened in December last year, and includes a
boardwalk over the mangrove-covered coastline. The project is part of a long-term goal to complete a
Waitemata Coastal Walkway stretching from Meola Reef in Westmere to Point Resolution Taurarua in Parnell
to connect with the Hobson Bay Walkway to create a pedestrian route opening up the Waitemata coastline
as never before. With the outgoing tide still quite high, this was very picturesque on a calm sunny day.

We arrived at Westmere Park at 2:55pm for our afternoon tea break, with a view across the Waitemata
Harbour to Birkenhead and the coat hanger.

At 3:20pm we were on our way again, taking a more direct route back to Meola Rd, then on through
Jaggers Bush Reserve to come out to Old Mill Rd opposite the Auckland Zoo. We went back through the Pasadena
school grounds and finished at our start point at 3:50pm, having enjoyed a lovely interesting walk.
