A group of 39 walkers met at the end of Frangipani Ave, in Wattle Downs. Barbara Langridge and Julie
Thompson were leading. Barbara welcomed the large group and asked them to divide into 2 groups for walking.
Julie handed out maps and prayed. It was explained that this is an opportunity to practise English for
those who would like to talk with new people and meet new friends.
Julie led the first group of
20 alongside the golf course and Barbara’s group of 19 followed. The tide was in and it was a very pleasant
walk in sunshine along the coast of the Manukau Harbour. After about an hour we gathered at Kauri Point
for a snack stop.

Barbara shared devotions about how God’s creation speaks to us about God’s character and helps us
get to know Him. Dave and Lily both contributed in translating into Mandarin. Barbara read some verses
from a poem (from Phillip Donnell’s book) about lingering and appreciating God’s creation based on the
verse ‘Be still and know that I am God’.

Both groups returned back the same way along the curving concrete path alongside the shoreline and
beaches with high tide. On return, all reported they had enjoyed a lovely walk.
