Eighteen people met at top of Rosebank Rd to start the Waterview walk. We crossed Blockhouse Bay Rd to
continue straight through to behind Pak ‘n’ Save Mt Albert, where we had a name introduction and a prayer
for our walk. From there we continued on to the rear end of Phyllis Reserve, where we followed the track
down onto Oakley Creek. Once down there it was quiet and there was no wind. We couldn’t even hear Auckland.
Much further down at the waterfall, there was a resting area for a snack and devotions led by
Barbara Steel. Quoting from Psalm 139:7-10 Barbara said that God is always near, knows every detail,
and watches and cares for us. We see His creation in the waterfall, mountaintop, looking at the night
sky. In the good times there are celebrations. In the hard times there is struggling, but God knows.
Through such things as earthquakes, floods and fire, such as the 12 boys and coach trapped in a cave
in Thailand, God is near.
We continued down the track for 30 metres, to climb out from the creek
and onto Great North Rd., walking south to the new bridge that crosses above Oakley Creek and continued
though Unitec at Carrington, back to Phyllis Reserve, past Pak ‘n’ Save back to our cars.
