There were 14 of us who boarded the ferry on Friday evening at 6.30pm to Waiheke Island. We caught the
bus to Onetangi then walked up the hill to Max and Judy’s place. They made us very welcome and we enjoyed
a wonderful weekend at their lifestyle block. We learned the importance of water conservation as they
are on tank water.
On Friday we had an evening walk up to the top of the road to view the surrounding
area which included Auckland City lights.
Saturday Max and Judy took us on a walk along the many
tracks around their area. Judy and Max are involved in maintaining pest traps in these areas and we
were given instruction on the different type of traps. We all enjoyed the walk, the scenery and the fellowship.
We ended up at Onetangi beach and some of us had a refreshing swim. We had a BBQ for our evening meal.
May joined us Sunday morning and after breakfast we set off for the ferry and walked along the Eastern
tracks back to the ferry, stopping for lunch on the way. Max transported our overnight packs to the ferry.
