At 2pm a group of 12 started walking from our car park across to Highland Ave, then into Derwent Cres,
to find a foot track across a small creek and up to Atkinson Rd near Kaurilands School. From here the
rain had got a little heavier, but we marched on to find another foot track past to Kaurilands school
leading onto Kawaka Street, onto Daffodil Street, onto Konini Rd and turned left to walk to the Watercare
tanks. Here we rested for about 10 minutes as the rain was now quite persistent. Climbing another foot
track to Kohu Rd and walk past Mount Atkinson as it was still heavy rain. At Titirangi Primary as we
gathering together to cross Atkinson Ave, someone noticed a wood Pidgeon sheltering in the trees above
us. Such a delightful sight. May gave the option to rest with ice creams or warm coffees. The coffees
were much appreciated.
While most of us sat sipping coffees, the sun decided, Titirangi village
had had enough rain and the sun beamed down upon us. It was only a 15-minute walk back to our cars.
