There were people who turned up the do the walk 2 newbie’s join in. We all meet at Henderson and for
the first hour we visited points of interest around Henderson such as the Falls Hotel and Tui Glen, then
a 20minute tour of the Mill Cottage and the original site of the Henderson Mill. Like all historians
the guides can get a little tied up in the story but it is interesting too see how much destruction of
the native timber stock was done back then.
From the middle of Henderson we took the concrete
pathway up Henderson Valley then on to Opanuku pipe line track for a lunch and meet up with Laurie King
and his new dog.
After lunch it is a walk down to the Swanson Railway station for refreshments
and a short wait for the bus back to Henderson.
