27 people met at Vellenoweth Green at St Heliers. After the usual intros and karakia we set out at 2:20pm
along Tamaki Drive and up Cliff Rd towards Achilles Point. We dropped down a staircase to the foreshore
and followed the coastline at low tide around to Karaka Bay.

As we sat down for our break a local resident came along and told us about the start of the Tamaki
River and the islands we could look out across the water to. Tony Watkins has been living on the Karaka
Bay coastline for the past 50 years, and he invited us to have a look through his quaint home on the
foreshore.

We then carried on up to Riddell Rd and into Churchill Park, walking through pasture that covered
most of the St Heliers area up to the 1950s. From there we went on to drop down through Glover Park and
come back out to Cliff Rd and Tamaki Drive and finish back at Vellenoweth Green at 4:30pm.
