16 trampers met at Waterfall Gully Carpark at 9.30am, we began to enter through the gates at the Waterfall
Gully carpark, initially the track took us through regenerating native bush and passed by a little waterfall
before opening up into lush farmland. We got to the wooden lookout at 10:15am, offering 360degree views
across Auckland and Tiritiri Matangi Island.
After morning tea there, we kept following the track
down to Te Haruhi Bay beach. Around 12pm we stopped in the Shakespear Park picnic area for lunch and
Tina gave the devotions, sharing an article from a church magazine on the song Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of the earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of
his glory and grace.
We then walked back to the carpark, finishing at 1.10pm, this walk is an
open bird sanctuary, Although the trail is not too long, there are mountains, beaches, bush, waterfall,
farmland and a lookout tower for beautiful views. Distance: 8.05km.
