About 38 people turned up for the annual Summer Tramps Reunion held at Carey Baptist College in Penrose.
We began to arrive from 5:30pm onwards, and a pot-luck BBQ meal was served up about 6pm.
Unlike
previous years there were only about two photograph albums on display - club president Phillip later
commented that digital cameras were now far more popular than film cameras, and people tended to store
their photos in digital form on CDs instead of hard copies in albums.

Afterwards we embarked on an armchair journey following the Summer Trampers through the spectacular
West Coast scenery of the South Island, divided into five sections.

Don and Helena sang a song as an interlude, accompanied by the showing of a succession of photos
of the trip on the screen. Once our journey had journey finished Phillip gave a notice about the next
Summer Tramp, Arthur’s Pass 2007-08 titled Arthur’s Theme, getting us to sing the words displayed on
the screen to the tune of Caught Between the Moon and New York City by Christopher Cross.
