16 trampers met up at Bracken Ave to depart at 7:50 am to the Waiorongomai Tramp in the Kaimai ranges.
After arriving at the entrance of the track and meeting up with a member from Tauranga making the total
number of people 17, the Waiorongomai Loop carpark at around 10:00am, we formed a circle as usual and
introduced ourselves followed by an open prayer by Hua who gave thanks to God for gathering us together
and keeping us safe.
We started at 10:10am on taking the low level loop track, firstly crossing
the Waiorongomai river, then ascending all the way up. As we proceeded, the group gradually separated
to two groups: the fast walkers went ahead, while those who slowed down as the ascending seemed endless,
till after morning tea at around 12 noon, some of the walkers decided to return to the car. while two
of them carried on to catch up with the rest of the group at the peak of 720m high. It started drizzling
and the wind was strong which had blown two trampers' hats off to land on the trees around the peak.
Though the view was incomparable, trampers found a sheltered spot to have lunch. Since not all trampers
were at the peak at the same time and the blowy wind made gathering and listening a mission difficult
to achieve, Hunter did not deliver the devotion he had prepared. As this first section of the group were
ready to return along the same route as they came, the other two finally caught up with them just around
the corner of the peak. Those two chose to have their lunch at the sheltered spot before they descended.
When those two caught up with the rest of the group near the river crossing which is now at the
end of the tramp, after a non-stop straight descending and was only 10 minutes behind, we have found
that one member in the first section of the group had fallen and injured his wrist. Thanks to the skilled
first aid person on the team, the injury was quickly bandaged and cocooned in a sling. A later medical
inspection said that there was fracture in the wrist. We pray for a good recovery for that tramper.
As we got into the cars to head back to Auckland, all the trampers gave thanks to the leaders saying
that they enjoyed a good workout on the track. The track is about 12.15 km in length and 720 m in height.
COST: travel from The Bracken $24

DEVOTIONS WE MISSED OUT ON DUE TO WINDY WEATHER AT OUR BREAK
Well it has been an eventful
week with the extensive wave of earthquakes felt in many parts of New Zealand with the maximum force
of 7.5 on the Richter scales about 15 kilometres below Culverden. Following these earth shocks we had
the tsunami warnings covering mainly the East Coast from as far north as Gisborne down to Southland.
Then on Tuesday we had the Supermoon when the new moon closest approach to Earth on its elliptical
orbit. There have been claims this phenomenon may be associated with increased risks of events such
as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. This Supermoon is the first since 1948. The moon is 14% bigger
and 30% brighter than an apogee full moon.
Did you know that we as trampers are some of the first
persons to view the rising sun each day on our Planet. We from Auckland have the experience of being
the first large City in the world to witness Gods early day breaking before us from the East. As we are
the first to experience Gods sunrise each we can lead the Nations of our Planet.
Our New Zealand
Psalm: Psalm 65:8 (NIV) The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders , where morning dawns
, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
The rays of the rising sun: Malachi 4:2-4
(NLT) " But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings.
As you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. On the day when I act, you will
tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet, " says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
Camped
around His presence: Numbers 2:1-2 (NIV) The Lord said to Moses and Aaron. " The Israelites are
to camp around the tent of meeting some distance from it, each of them under their standard and holding
the banners of their family".
Facing the rising sun: Numbers 2:3-9(NIV) On the east, toward
the sunrise the divisions of the camp of Judah are to encamp under their standard. The tribe of Issachar
will camp next to them. The tribe of Zebulun will be next. Judah will set out first.
Prayer:
Our Father who art in Heaven we are most thankful to you for bringing this day to us giving us a
new dawn and a glimpse of the sun. We are thankful that you have given us a Supermoon. We are thankful
for this wondrous outdoors we are enjoying today.
We ask that you all on your homeward journey
downhill, cooling down, that you let your mind wander for a few minutes or even say a short prayer to
those people down South who have their lives upturned (literally) this week through the result of the
earthquakes and aftershocks experienced. Also I ask that you dwell on those people of many Countries
who are having their lives destroyed through wars and persecution. Please Lord give those in power over
us all the desire for peace on this Earth as it is in Heaven.
Lastly I ask you to take a leaf
out of the Super moon book today and make your heart at least 14% bigger and your life 30% brighter.
I ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ Amen
