The forecast showed a weather front coming in from the west and for once the prediction was correct,
with loud claps of thunder followed by intense rain, this damped just but really this is what tramping
is all about going and experiencing the place the conditions the weather and the terrain. We changed
the plans as the group could not have undertaken what I had intended so we went to a knoll above Pareoha
Bay. The track shown on Google Earth was no longer passable the further we went, so we turned back after
a short while lunching at a clearing on Cannibal Creek. With the weather coming in and no let up of the
rain the group was keen to head back to the cars and dry clothes.
When tramping sometime the conditions
become unpleasant but you have to remain positive knowing things will change in a short time which is
what happen, the sun came out and we dried out.
