We met at the McMillan Rd Car Park at 9.45am. After introductions and prayer we set off up the grassy,
zig-zag track until we entered the bush. A lovely stand of native bush including some Kauris, many other
varieties and a range of ferns. The well-gravelled track continues uphill, and even more steeply since
the addition of many steps! After exiting the bush, we all sat on a grassy spot for morning tea. (except
that Nelson had been delayed by motorway traffic and was still reaching the car park.) David led the
group higher on the open paddocks, across a muddy farm track and higher to the ridge leading to the summit.
We were grateful for fine weather, a cooling breeze but no rain, even though showers were predicted.
Finally we heard from Nelson he was making his way up through the bush!
After eating lunch enjoying
the broad views in all directions, Barbara shared devotions about mountain top experiences, sharing some
Biblical ones, and also some ABTC mountain top experiences too. Then leading in a prayer of praise for
our created world, beautifully and ecologically designed by God to support life and our livelihoods.
Nelson joined us at the summit, with a cheer from the group. Descending the same track, we all safely
returned to the Car Park by 1.30pm. Still time for anyone who still needs to vote in the General Election.
