Fourteen of us, which comprised of seven newcomers to the club, ventured up Mount William on a warm and
sunny Sunday afternoon. Since leader Carole had last done this walk/tramp over two years ago, there has
been major track maintenance done, making the ascent through native bush up many steps, giving us all
a good workout uphill. However, the track was very dry and the bush very welcoming!
We stopped
a few times during our ascent to regroup, have a drink, and catch our breath. When we got to the trig,
the summit of Mount William, everyone took full advantage of the fantastic panoramic scenery, particularly
looking towards Thames and Coromandel.
Also whilst our group was at the summit, co-leader Sonia
Dryden, took a devotions on Fear, and spoke about spending time in prayer when we feel fearful or afraid
about a particular challenge or situation, we are facing. We must remember that God is in control of
our lives, and will never leave us or forsake us!
Everyone enjoyed the walk/tramp, and it was
encouraging to see new people come along to participate, and share the experience. Hopefully, we will
have some new members in our midst very soon.
