We started at 1:30pm and finished at 5:00pm. We met at Taumanu Reserve (next to Orpheus Drive, Hillsborough). There were about 50 walkers, with most of them non-members. It was a trip open to the public and exceeded the normal limit of participants. The address for meeting and starting (30 Seacliffe Road) was copied from the website of Auckland City Council. It was somehow misleading. Some of the walkers waited there. Peter noticed and offered to get them over.

Carl explained the walk, Tina prayed, then we started. We crossed over the bridge to Onehunga, then crossed the second bridge back to Hillsborough. After crossing the third bridge, we came to Mangere Bridge. We walked along Kiwi Esplanade, one of the most beautiful beach walks in Auckland. The view was fantastic in the warm winter afternoon.  Birds were here and there, flying above the sea, going for bread thrown out for them, or resting on the grass.

We came to Mangere Mountain Education Centre around 3:30pm. All of us were scattered around the grass for afternoon tea. Tina did the devotions – Follow Me.  It’s about the Sabbath Day. God created the universe and human beings within six days.  On seventh day, He rested. I called for following God: work six days, rest on the seventh day.

After the break, we walked across Ambury Farm. Although it’s been raining for days, the grass was not muddy. Sheep was wandering near and afar. Out of the farm, we continued walking in the streets. It were so quiet in the Sunday afternoon. We then came to the last bridge, which is actually under Highway 20. A beautiful view looking to the west where the sun was nearly going down.

Finally we walked back to Taumanu Reserve.  All were very happy.  No accident. Then we all went home.
