This tramp went, as planned, from the Falls, along the popular Massey Track on the east side of the Wairoa
River until intersecting with the Wairoa-Cossey Track which took us to the dam where our group of 11
enjoyed brunch. We went on a little further to check out the massive slip that came down 2 years ago
and is gradually beginning to heal. Unfortunately for us, the beautiful & impressive Kauri Grove was
recently blocked off and the signage removed. We returned along the same route, eliminating the need
to cross the river. An unexpected highlight for 4 of us occurred when a litter of piglets crossed our
path heading south. The Falls were almost full width due to the recent rain. An invigorating & most satisfying
tramp.
Devotions were led by Tina & held at the Dam Lookout. Based on 2 Kings 2:9,10: Elisha
said, "Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me." Elijah replied, "You have asked a hard
thing . . . ." So many in the club are serving in a variety of ways &/or are coping with extreme circumstances.
When Elijah made his statement he wasn’t implying that anything was hard for God, but rather that the
more we desire from God, the more we need to sacrifice: time, finances, relationships, health, comfort
. . . . we cannot foresee all that God will require. However, we can never out-give God, and the blessings/grace/mercies
we receive are extravagantly abundant.
