Fifteen people spent the first afternoon of winter time doing a walk up North Head and Mt Victoria in
Devonport on a fine calm day. We set out from outside the Deovnport Library at 2:15pm and walked along
King Edward Parade to North Head before climbing up to the former navy buildings at the top.

We went inside the old 1885 stone kitchen building to watch a 15 minute video of the history of the
area, only to find the picture broke down halfway through. So we carried on and saw one of the old disappearing
guns and a panoramic view of the Waitemata Harbour and the Auckland Isthmus.

We dropped down through a narrow chasm to come out to the coast.

From there we went around to Cheltenham and walked the length of the beach before turning inland
to road bash to the Cambria Reserve.

Then came the biggest climb, up Mt Victoria to be rewarded with panoramic views of the North Shore
and Hauraki Gulf.

We finished our walk at 4:25pm with coffee at the Corellis café in the Devonport village.
