A mild cloudy spring day greeted the 19 Trampers (including Club President and about 7 visitors), at the Hunua Falls car park to commence the walk at just after 2.30 pm.

After crossing the footbridge a left turn was taken in the track and then we commenced a walk up the fence line in a northerly direction until the junction of the Massey Track downward. We took the Cossey Dam Track and soon reached the banks of the widish stream. After some negotiating of stepping stones the other side was reached with varying degrees of dry and damp feet. After a stroll along the banks of the stream we reached the Cossey Gorge and commenced the climb up a series of steps. We soon reached the junction to the Cossey Road Track and the Cossey Dam Track, we took the latter track. Within an hour or so we reached the reservoir and dam. Here we spent a short time for rest and participating in afternoon tea.

We set off again at 4 pm and then after about 15 minute uphill trek reached the viewing platform to appreciate an aerial view of the reservoir and surrounding hills. A short stroll further and we reached the junction to Wairoa Dam where we continued down the Massey Track until we diverted for 5 min loop to view the Kauri Grove with some quite large trees, well worth the look. On continuing on down the track we arrived at the Footbridge again at about 5.30pm where we met a large group of adults and children visiting from Myanmar with a kiwi meet and greet "Kia Ora"

A final framed group photo was taken with the spectacular Hunua Falls in the background. A much bigger fall of water than the trickle shown on the ABTC year 2000 trip report, about 10 times the expanse of water. This probably is the reason we got our feet wet in the stream.

A great day was had by all enjoying the spring growth of the various forest plants, the "Koru" shooting out of the ferns, and the lovely flowering Clematis with its white blooms.

Highlights included the spectacular Hunua Falls, Cossey Gorge, stream, dam, reservoir, long range views and the nature in the bush.
