19 trampers did the Coast to Coast Walkway. We had three groups led by Joy, David and Hua starting from
Onehunga Beachcroft Ave at 8.30am. The first two groups set off to climb Maungakiekie first and then
joined the rest of us at the newish Cornwall Park café for a morning tea.
The three groups gathered
together again by the newly built Campbell Statue for devotions. Joy invited everyone to share something
that they felt thankful for. She said that John Logan Campbell donated the land of Cornwall Park to Auckland
City so everyone can enjoy the beauty this land offers. He is often described as the Father of Auckland.
We went on again in our groups, Hua's group of 9 had lunch on top Mt. Eden, while the other two
groups kept going and had their lunch at the Domain. Everyone met up at Britomart station for the train
back to Onehunga. It took us 4 hours to do the day walk.
