Starting point was the Ferry Building in the city and we followed the Yellow signs for the Coast to Coast Trail. We walked up to the University and then crossed Auckland Domain to Mt Eden. Great views on a clear hot day. We continued to the Kohia Campus and through Melville Park to Cornwall Park where we stopped for lunch near the John Campbell Cottage. We climbed up One Tree Hill, Maungakiekie and then made our way to Royal Oak. It was a very tiring hot walk along the Onehunga streets to the Lagoon on the Manakau Harbour. Several cars had been left at the Lagoon car park and walkers had caught the train back to the city for the start of the walk. Some folk continued to Onehunga for some well deserved cold drinks. Another group also walked this route earlier in the day, led by Christine Marshall.
