The first day of "winter" (finish of daylight saving) was a glorious hot sunny afternoon that none of
the 19 people who came along would think would turn to rain within a couple of hours. Seven of us met
at The Bracken at 1:30pm and we all met up at Brugato Place in Chatswood at 2pm.
We entered the
Kauri Point Centennial Park off Onetaunga Rd opposite Brugato Place and dropped down steadily along a
stepped clay bush track to come out at Kendall Bay.

From there we re-entered the bush to climb up to a lookout on the headland to the east of the bay,
which was once a Maori pa. We could look out across the Waitemata Harbour to the Auckland isthmus with
its volcanic cones, and the Meola Reef extending more than halfway across the harbour from Pt Chevalier.

We continued along the cliff top track and came out to the Chelsea Estate Heritage Park. On reaching
the bottom of Colonial Rd we saw about three boys come racing down on home-made tricycles with wide back
wheels. The father of one of them, who was supervising the group, said that he had made the bikes after
getting this idea off YouTube.

Our afternoon tea break was in a small grassed area off Colonial Rd just past the Duck Creek pond.
Just before we carried on with our walk Eileen gave a short devotions on faith. When David confronted
Goliath, his armour was far too heavy, but he said to Goliath as he stood before the people You come
to me with a sword, but I come to you in the name of God. We need to take up the shield of faith, a defensive
weapon we can use against the enemy. Be encouraged, we need to make a concerted effort to keep on going.

We followed the bush track up the Chatswood Reserve, and came out to Mosman Place. We went along
Chelsea View Drive and up Murano Place and a short walkway to finish back at our starting point shortly
before 5pm - just as light rain began to fall.
