15 members took the challenge to complete various tramps and enjoyed their day in the Waitakeres, based at Whatipu. Bruce and Barry completed the 7 km Semi-Bronze course up the Kura track and back to Whatipu over the Omanawanui track. Lynn and Christine were not defeated by the 14 km Bronze course up the Gibbons and Walker Ridge tracks and back to Whatipu along the Donald McLean, Puriri Ridge and Kura tracks. Neither were Kim , Jocelyn , Diana , Claire  and Christine defeated by the Bronze course. Tina, Joshua, Sunny, Jo and Linda conquered the 20 km Silver course, while Ian hoped to rule the Gold course but found a track had been closed so he also finished the Silver instead. Stalwart helpers assisting Val and Peter and making the whole day possible were Marian and David, Johanna and Laurie. These good folk provided water, refreshment and encouragement to the teams at various places around the courses. Participants paid $5 each and all received a certificate and a hot drink and a muffin provided by Val when they finished their course.
