30 people showed up for a walk through the bush reserves of Blockhouse Bay. We split up into two groups,
led by David and Marian respectively, and setting out from the Blockhouse Bay library carpark at 2pm
we crossed a sports field and went through the native bush reserve of Avondale South Domain to Lewis
St and Flounder Bay.

We took another bush track leading to the Blockhouse Bay beach, and went down a side track for a
short break at Flounder Bay.

From there we went on to Blockhouse Bay beach and out to Te Whau Point. We were able to see herons
and kingfishers out on the tidal flats, and at the point we could look out across the Manukau harbour
to its south shores.

The two groups met up at the shelter shed on Blockhouse Bay beach at 3:15pm as the first spits of
an approaching band of rain arrived. David shared devotions about Jesus the Founder and Perfector of
our faith. The author of Hebrews listed many Old Testament characters who faced challenges and difficulties.
They put their trust in God instead of things they saw, even if the ordeal got worse. The lesson is -
never abandon your faith in Jesus Christ, not for anything. Giving up on Jesus means giving up on any
chance of salvation.

The rain became a light drizzle as we carried on another bush track to the end of Taunton Tce and
down to Green Bay where Leila gave an announcement about the ABTC home group.

We went up Portage Rd and through Craigavon Park as the rain really set in, then back to the Blockhouse
Bay shops finishing at 4:30pm.
