22 people gathered in the lounge room of Remuera Baptist Church ready to get on mountain bikes to cycle the Alps to Ocean 300km cycle trail in the South Island.with Paul and Ruth Ungemuth. The trail began at Mt Cook, and we went through Twizel, Ohau, Omarama, Otematata, Benmore, Kurow and Duntroon to finish at Oamaru on the east coast. Lynley Smith gave a presentation promoting her new book Zainabu’s Story, the biography of a child brought up in the slums of Nairobi, and how sponsorship and the hand of protection of a good God brought her through many hard trials which is a must read for anyone interested in helping children from deprived backgrounds. We prayed for Lynley after she gave this. A yummy pot-luck supper followed.
