About 40 people decided to forego the rugby to visit Linda’s home in Torbay for a lovely dessert evening
and armchair journey.
We started eating our pot-luck smorgasbord at 7pm, after which we sat down
in our armchairs (and cushions and wentilillos on the floor) to journey to the United States following
the footsteps of Nelson, Linda and Elizabeth through 17 national parks - these included Yosemite with
its rocky mountains, Bryce Canyon with its spectacular rock formations, Death Valley, Mt Rushmore with
its large rock carvings of four American presidents, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone with its geysers and
hot springs, plus a visit to Salt Lake city, home of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Elizabeth then showed a selection of her slides from England and USA, presenting them in a devotional
context. Nelson finished the formal part of the evening by praying for the USA as a world superpower.
We had more mix-and-mingle socialising over supper to cap off an interesting and informative time
