There was a good turnout of 50 people at the AGM dinner held at the Carey Baptist College in Penrose.
This time we had the AGM in the dining room, which had more ventilation than the chapel, as a Covid precaution,
with many of us masking faces. To save costs and dishwashing clatter the dinner was part catered and
part potluck – we were asked to bring a vegie or salad dish, bringing the cost down to only $10.
We began with the usual mix ‘n’ mingle over drinks ‘n’ nibbles at 5pm, and sat down for dinner at 5:30pm.
At 7:20pm guest speaker Wesley Webb gave a presentation The Sounds Of The Forest on the song of various
NZ native birds and other creatures.
The AGM followed. All the existing exec were voted back
in unanimously: President – Murray Black Vice President – Barbara Langridge Secretary – David
Rutherfurd Treasurer – Barbara Steel Committee – David Walker; John McCarthy, Paul Ungemuth, Tina
Chen, Roger Donnell, Bryan Schroeder
Barbara presented June with a card for her service to the
Club over the years, looking after the food for packcarry trips over the last 5 years, and her previous
time as treasurer. We finished with a reflection Haiku Poems. A Japanese haiku poem has three lines,
with 5 syllables in the first and last lines, and 7 in the middle line. Murray, Bryan, Cathie and Ruth
read poems by Ali, Jocelyn, Barbara L, Susan and Peter.
