About 45 people came along to this flagship event of the ABTC’s social year. We began with punch and nibbles mix ‘n’ mingle at 5pm, and at 6pm sat down to yummy buffet dinner of ham, beef, salads and pastas followed by cake and cream dessert. We gathered in the church lounge at 7:10pm for an interesting presentation on Tiritiri Matangi Island. Peter Lee, Principal and Chief Challenger of C2C Partners, shared with us the story of the island’s history, its flora and fauna and some of his experiences as a guide and supporter of the Island. He showed slides of the island from 1898 to today, of how the island was farmed in the early days, and its progress in being restored to the bush-covered wildlife sanctuary that it is now. This was followed by the AGM, where Exec members spoke to each of their reports. Our new Exec was elected by secret confidence ballot - Office Holders:  Barbara Langridge (President)                          Paul Ungemuth (Vice President)                          Barbara Steel (Treasurer)                          Jocelyn Brodie (Secretary) Executive: John McCarthy, David Walker, Murray Black, Tina Chen, Roger Donnell, Mark Paynter. Cards were presented to David and Marian Kilgour for their many years’ work looking after Club membership, and Esther Rhee in absentia for her work in charge of the social side over the past year. Barbara announced the new social coordinators Jill Walker and Cathie Black. The new Exec came forward to be prayed for. COST: $20
