We met at Rogers Park near Eastern Beach at 2pm and took a short path through to Eastern Beach. It led
in front of houses and up to a lookout point, then up to Clovelly Rd. We followed this until we turned
left into Buckland’s Beach Reserve, where we were grateful for some shade on such a hot afternoon.
We proceeded along Morrow Ave and Musick Point Rd to the sealed road through the Howick Golf Course.
Athol joined us here. Dodging golf balls, we enjoyed the views of Auckland harbour as we made our way
to the point itself. We took a rest on the grass reserve looking out to Browns, Rangitoto, Waiheke and
Motuihe Islands.
On our return we walked along Buckland’s Beach shoreline, viewing the many boats
moored on the harbour. A dairy in Whitcombie St benefitted from our trade in ice creams, before we took
a walkway through bush between streets overt the peninsula returning to Rogers Park before 4:30pm.
