The living room of Linda’s home was packed out with 30 guests for an interesting armchair journey evening following the footsteps of three Club members, one of them almost in his eighties, who had come together to go tramping in England and the rugged and challenging Dolomites in Europe.

We began with a pot-luck smorgasbord of yummy dessert soon after 7pm.

Nelson took us to England visiting some historical castles and coastal towns before taking us on walks through the country’s lush green countryside and into the hills. We then went across to Europe where Linda and Leo took us into the Dolomites. These rugged alpine mountains presented their challenges as we followed the trio on tramps of several days at a time, climbing peaks, looking at the majestic scenery, and doing some serious mountain-climbing work in places. Eventually we were back on the train out of the mountains to overnight in a YHA and board the plane home.

And all this finished just three hours from when we started to eat our dessert.
