3 PEAKS
Mts Albert, Roskill, Three Kings Sat 14 Feb
|

A group of 13 met at Rocket Park at 9:00 AM to begin the walk, led by Justin Coleman and Michelle Chong.
Four welcomed guests joined the regular walkers for the day. Following the walk to the summit of Mount
Albert, we descended through Owairaka Park to follow the Oakley Creek pathway through to May Road. Morning
tea was enjoyed at the Mount Roskill War Memorial Park grounds before the group climbed to the summit
of Mount Roskill and then continued toward Three Kings, ascending to the top of Big King. After a brief
lunch break at the summit, the group took in wide panoramic views across Auckland.
Justin gave
the devotions from The Word For Today about showing appreciation. Paul dedicates Romans 16 to acknowledge
and appreciate the individuals who assisted him. Expressing gratitude for people's contributions uplifts
them, similar to how watering wilted flowers revives them. Couples and others can benefit greatly from
recognising and showing appreciation for even the small things. If you find it hard to express gratitude,
consider a list of everyday actions to appreciate, such as cleaning the house, preparing meals, and being
on time. Your appreciation can extend to many responsibilities and acts of kindness. Aim to appreciate
at least one thing each day about those around you. Don't let insecurity stop you from noticing the little
things. It takes humility to recognize others' efforts. By being secure in yourself, you empower others
through communication, trust, care, and appreciation.
The return journey included an urban section
before continuing back through Ferguson Reserve and the Roy Clements Treeway to Alberton Road, finishing
where the walk began on the corner of New North Road and Wairere Ave at approximately 1:45pm. It was
a rewarding loop walk combining volcanic summits, urban pathways, and green reserves - a great day out
despite the uncertain start to the weather.
